11-18-12 Sharp Peak / MacLehose Trail Section 2 Tai Long Wan Hike

Adventure Club hosted a hike to Sharp Peak and Tai Long Wan which is one of the most scenic hikes along the MacLehose Trail (麥理浩徑) which in entirety is 100KM but we probably did about 15KM of it. We had to take a few buses to get here in the Sai Wan part of Sai Kung area north of HKUST but it was definitely worth it.

Started off muggy and remained misty for the most part.

We passed several bays/beaches before conquering Sharp Peak. Here’s the first one:

Moving on. See the little human ant figures, that’s part of the trail:

Just for the record, I did this hike again (without going up Sharp Peak with my friend visiting in town recently and with the sun, it’s so much nicer!)

The monkey bridge that we didn’t know if it would hold anyone. You can see the tents in background too – it would be amazing to camp here!

Up we go, farther and farther away from the coast and more inland to climb up a very very steep incline to Sharp Peak.

Getting foggier and foggier…

Finally made it to the top! Poor visibility though.

Steep way down

Well, thankfully we got this warning at the BOTTOM of the mountain after going up and down Sharp Peak!

Near the end, you can see the same bays from the beginning but farther away since we are more inland. This hike was a loop rather than a one way trail that you have to repeat on the way back.

Snake sighting

This dog was not about to move for anyone or any vehicle!
